The speed of business decisions.
Every day I'm more and more amazed at the speed of technology. Google fiber. Google glass. Android. New iPhones in half the production time as the last. Apps updating and redesigning weekly. It's truly amazing.
What terrifies me is the rest of the business world not moving even at a quarter of the speed. Is truly terrifying when you see business using technology from five years ago, or even worse using tools from companies that no longer exist, or don't support those products anymore.
While I understand big business is slow to move, I think getting left behind in the technology realm is a little more frightening then upgrading or being afraid of "roll outs".
If you think of a system on your personal scale, imagine this.
This summer you realize you should have a HVAC guy come check your AC unit in your house before the Heat wave hits.. A technician comes out and unfortunately informs you you need service for your unit, which will take 2 hrs and $400 bucks. Instead of saying yes please, you say, "we'll, lets start a project and figure out what the tasks are, I'll consult with my family (4 separate meetings) call a inspector to assess the house, call a electrician, and also a general contractor. Maybe you need city permits. Maybe not. So we will have to contact the city, or township.
Shop around for the parts. Request quotes for the actual work.
You see where I'm going. The. Next day is 100 degrees. And you really regret not just saying do it.
